Summer Card Camp 2: Week 3 Day 5

Hello!

Today's card uses the color combo second from the bottom.  Of course I picked that combo because I get to use my favorite ink Hero Arts pale tomato!

I used PTI the sweet life stamp set for the flowers, loving the layered stamp sets right now!  I used brown woodgrain cardstock for the background which can be difficult to stamp on so I decided to punch out a hole and stamp in that instead.  Not a style I typically do (usually don't let things hang over the edge of the card) but I am please with how it turned out.

Thanks for looking!

Summer Card Camp 2: Week 3 Day 4

Hello!

Today's homework was to try something new and step out of our comfort zone.  Shabby chic is definitely not my style so I figured I would give that a try, plus it seemed to fit this week's color combo really well.

I happened to have a 6x6 paper pad that had purple/aqua patterns so figured this was a good time to use it.  I roughed up the edges of the background papers and distressed everything with vintage photo distress ink.  I made the flower from a PTI die set.  Not my usual style but I'm please with how it turned out.

Summer Card Camp 2: Week 3 Day 3

Hello!

Today was my third card using the below color combo, it's getting easier to use these colors now!
http://onlinecardclasses.com/summercardcamp2/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/SCC2_week3_colors.jpg

First I did some die cutting with PTI mat stack #4 dies.  Then on the white die cut I masked off the section my sentiment would go and stamped a bunch of flower images all over.  I wanted to use water coloring so I used a lot of outline flower images so I could color them in.  I kept it simple but used some fun techniques and am happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for looking!

Summer Card Camp 2: Week 3 Day 2

Hello!

Today's card uses the same color combo as yesterday, and it is still a challenging color scheme for me but I like that is pushes me out of my comfort zone.
http://onlinecardclasses.com/summercardcamp2/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/SCC2_week3_colors.jpg
I was inspired by Sarah's background card and the die cut embossing technique that Jennifer used in her cards.  I used a diamond background die for the base of my card and filled in the openings with different colors of cardstock, reminded me of putting a puzzle together.  Next I put a piece of embossed white cardstock along the left side for my sentiment.  For the butterfly embellishment, I die cut the pieces and embossed the more detailed piece with Zing! aqua embossing powder to add some shine.  The sentiment was pieced together from Die-Versions a hint of lime die.  Then I finished off with a bit of twine.

Summer Card Camp 2: Week 3 Day 1

Hello!

This week's color combo for Summer Card  Camp 2 is challenging.  I love purple, but rarely do I use it on a card.

I'm not gonna lie, this card took me a very long time.  It started as something totally different but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I used sketch 1 above and the layered stamped background technique that Jennifer McGuire went over today but it's a little hard to see (I think a lighter shade of purple would have worked better for this technique).  Pardon the extremely wet cupcake, I added some rock candy stickles and they weren't dry yet.

Here's a better look at the layer stamped background:

Summer Card Camp 2: Week 1 Day 2 & 3

Hello!

I have two cards to share today based on the below color scheme and sketches from week 1 of Summer Card Camp 2.

First up is a card inspired by the watercolor technique Shari Carroll used in the Week 1 Day 2 lesson as well as the first and second sketches above.  I colored a stamp from the Hero Arts brush strokes set with Gelatos, spritzed with water and dragged it across some water color paper (repeated this same process for each color).  Then I die cut the banner and adhered really well to the front of the card since the paper was warping a little.  For the sentiment I used the MFT happy birthday die set.

Supplies: watercolor paper, Gelatos, Hero Arts brush strokes stamp set, SC Corey add-on, MFT Die-Namics Happy Birthday, Papertreyink wine bottle tag die, sequins

Next up is a card inspired by Kelly Purkey's masked background card from Week 1 Day 3 and the third sketch above.  First I cut a 4''x2.75'' rectangle out of masking paper and placed it in the center of the card front.  Then I stamped the honeycomb border in Hero Arts butter bar ink and removed the masking paper.  Then I used a cloud stencil, a dauber and some Hero Arts soft pool ink for the middle background.  I used my Martha Stewart scoring board to make the outline of the border more defined.  Then I finished the card off with the bee image and sentiment.

Supplies: Inkadinkado mask paper, Impress Rubber Stamps honeycomb background, Hero Arts butter bar and soft pool ink, Versafine onyx ink, Martha Stewart scoring board, Papertreyink orange zest cardstock, SSS circle friends stamp set, SSS sentiment of be die and stamp set, SSS mini hearts die, stardust stickles

Summer Card Camp 2: Week 1 Day 1

Hello!

I am working to get caught up on my Summer Card Camp 2 homework, that's what weekends are for right?

I really enjoyed this color combo, once again I got to use my favorite ink color, pale tomato!  I didn't really use the sketches but I think that's okay.

I used MFT party balloons stamp set and some masking to create the balloons.  I thought it would be fun for the strings to be connected to the happy sentiment.  I used a MFT die to cut out the birthday sentiment which I backed with a piece of cardstock I had colored with Hero Arts orange soda ink.

  Thanks for looking.

Supplies: MFT Party Balloons stamp set, MFT Die-Namics Party Balloons, MFT Die-Namics Happy Birthday, Hero Arts Shadow Inks in soft pool, pale tomato, butter bar and orange soda, Versafine onyx ink, SSS Happy stamp

Getting Back to Blogging

It's been a crazy year with work and traveling for weddings, but I am finally getting back to making cards and working on my project life (yes I am like a year behind).

I am currently in a couple online crafting classes: Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 and Inked over at Studio Calico.  I made a card today that works for both classes.

I used a color combo from Week 2 Day 5 of Summer Card Camp 2 and the technique of layered stamping.  I am loving Hero Arts pale tomato ink right now, so of course I had to pick a color combo with it.  I used the amazing stamp set from the Studio Calico Valley High card kit.  I cut out the hello friend image and mounted it with foam dots to add some depth, then finished off the card with some glittery highlights.
