Background Stamps & Stamping on Texture

Hello.

Another fabulous Online Card Class just started: Stretch Your Stamps.  Day 1 focused on background stamps, in particular the lattice background from Studio Calico.

I love this background stamp so I decided to make two different cards using it.

For the first card, I heat embossed the lattice design in white and then went over the cardstock with peacock feathers distress ink (love this color!).  I really wanted to pair the teal color with yellow, so decided to make a sun.  I used a wonderful die/stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  Then I cut out a tag shape and stamped a sentiment from Studio Calico's new Heyday stamp sets.

Supplies: Studio Calico Lattice Background Stamp, Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, Papertrey Ink Hello Sunshine Stamp/Die Sets, Technique Tuesday Bring on the Sun Stamp Set, Studio Calico Heyday Sentiments Stamp Set, Prima Chalk Fluid Edger - Rusty Keys, White Embossing Powder, Black Versamark Ink

For the second card, I decided to use the "kissing" method discussed in the class.  I inked up the thank you stamp then "kissed" it with the lattice background.  Loved how it turned out.

Supplies: Heyday 6x6 Paper Pack, Stamp from Studio Calico Malibu Add-On, Prima Chalk Fluid Edgers - Coltfoot Stemens and Teal Damask, EK Success Border Punch, Studio Calico Lattice Background Stamp

Stamping on Texture
I also made a card for the Make it Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink.  The challenge was to stamp on texture.  I had never done this before so it was a bit challenging for me to figure out a embossing plate and stamp pair that I wanted to use.  First I dry embossed a 4.25x5.5in piece of white cardstock with the Papertrey Ink chicken wire embossing plate.  Then I stamped the wooden background on the raised portions.  It didn't stamp perfectly but I do like how it turned out, feels more rustic.  I cut out a tag shape and used that as an embellishment for the card.

Supplies: Papertrey Ink Chicken Wire Embossing Plate, Papertrey Ink On the Farm Stamp Set, Papertrey Ink On the Farm Die Set, Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy Cardstock, Papertrey Ink Background Basics: Farm & Barn Stamp Set, Stampabilities Mesh Background Stamp, Marvy Uchida Tag Punch, Edge Distressing Tool, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Black Versamark Ink

 Hope you enjoyed.

Stamping on Patterned Paper

Hello.

Today's Make it Monday Challenge over at Papertrey Ink was to stamp on patterned paper.  I am loving the patterned papers from Studio Calico's new Heyday collection.  There is a pattern in there that has a wind/breezy feel to it and I love the Papertrey Ink Up, Up and Away stamp set so decided to put them together for a card.

For the rainbow I used a technique from Studio Calico's Summer Stamp School.  Instead of using regular ink, I used markers so I could make each line of the rainbow a different color.

Hope you enjoyed.

Hello...Summer Stamp School

Hello!

Today is the first day of Studio Calico's Summer Stamp School!  I am so excited to try out new techniques, and the class stamp set is amazing!

The inspiration for my card today was a new savvystamps Space Needle die I just got.  This year happens to be the Space Needle's 50th anniversary.

I used the chevron pattern from the class stamp set to create a patterned accent.  I stamped it three times, colored in a few sections and then cut it out.  I love how well yellow and gray go together (and of course we tend to have gray skies here a lot in Seattle).  I used the hello word bubble die cut from Studio Calico's 35mm kit.  It's like the Space Needle is saying 'hello'.  :)

Hope you enjoyed.

4th of July

Hello.

I can't believe June is almost over, which got me thinking I need to make some 4th of July cards.

After seeing so many people do the tie-dye effect with Distress Inks, I thought I would give it a try.  First I stamped the tail behind the star with Distress Embossing Ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I rubbed some Barn Door and Faded Jean Distress Inks on my craft mat, added water and soaked up the color with a piece of 4.25in x 5.5in white cardstock.  I think watercolor paper would have worked better but I still love how it turned out.  The background had a sky feel so I decided to use stars to embellish the card (and of course stars are very 4th of July!).

Supplies: Papertrey Ink Star Dies, Papertrey Ink Super Stars Stamp Set, Barn Door Distress Ink, Faded Jean Distress Ink, Distress Embossing Ink, Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy Cardstock, White Embossing Powder, Neenah Solar White Cardstock, EK Success Photo Labels Punch, Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy button, Uni-ball White Gel Pen, and savvystamps happy fourth of july stamp (could not find a link for it)

Hope you enjoyed!

Hello Sunshine

Hello.

After a torrential downpour yesterday, the sun decided to make an appearance today so I thought I would try to incorporate that into a card.

I used items from the new Heyday collection from Studio Calico.  The colors are perfect for summer, very bright and cheery.

To achieve the sun ray effect, I masked off portions of a paper from the 6x6 Heyday paper pack and misted with Buttercup Mister Huey's.  To create the mask, I started with a 4.25in x 5.5in piece of scrap paper, then determined where I wanted the rays to come from and drew lines with a ruler.  I labeled which pieces would be yellow to make it easier to piece together after cutting them all apart.  This is a technique I saw Kristina Werner use HERE

I added a mistable sun, sprayed the entire card lightly with Sherbet Mister Huey's and stamped a sentiment from Ali Edwards Bring on the Sun.  I finished the card off by adding dotted lines along the edges.

Hope you enjoyed, I'm off to soak up some sunshine!

Hexagons!

Hello.

Today I want to share one of my all time favorite cards that I have made.  This card was for a friend's birthday, can you guess her favorite color? ;)

Hexagons are very popular right now, and I am having so much fun using them!  For this card I used a combination of hexagon dies, mistable thickers and stamps to create a fun geometric design.  I just love how it turned out.

Supplies: Studio Calico 35mm, Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Hexagon Dies, Mister Huey's Pretty Pink, Memento Rose Bud Ink, Papertrey Ink Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set, Black Versafine Ink, Bazzill Berry Sensation Cardstock, Neenah Solar White Cardstock, White Uni-ball Pen, BasicGrey Kissing Booth 6x6 Paper, and Cuttlebug

Hope you enjoyed, have a great day.
